This Abbott Handerson Thayer painting depicting his family, reminds me of that song ‘I am woman, hear me roar’. I can almost feel their determination to survive life’s obstacles through their eyes.

Rembrandt

My college had this basement photo archive with light like this and a stone staircase. This painting reminds me of that room and combines two of my favourite elements, light and a spiral staircase.

The age and size of this tiny piece also fascinates me. I can’t help but wonder how it would look cleaned up. (Varnish on old painting become yellow with age).
